ABOUT US
Atlas Wrestling is a 501c3 nonprofit youth wrestling club committed to building disciplined, confident young athletes both on and off the mat. We provide a place where wrestlers can grow in skill, character, work ethic, and teamwork while being part of something bigger than themselves.
Our goal is to keep wrestling accessible by keeping costs as low as possible while covering the basics like practice space, equipment, and insurance. We want to keep the club running strong for every wrestler and every family who wants to be part of it.
We also offer scholarships and flexible options because we never want money to be the reason a child cannot wrestle. Through fundraising and community support, our nonprofit helps cover costs for families when they need it so more kids have the opportunity to step on the mat.
Who is wrestling for?
Atlas Wrestling is for boys and girls ages 4 through high school, whether they are brand new to the sport or already have years of experience. Wrestlers are grouped by age, weight, and skill level to help keep practices safe, challenging, and appropriate for where they are.
Wrestling can be a great fit for kids who want to build confidence, improve coordination, stay active, and be part of a team. It is also a good option for multi-sport athletes, beginners who want to try something new, and experienced wrestlers who want to keep growing.
Tournaments are optional, so kids do not have to compete to be part of the club. We also offer drop-ins for families who want to try a class before committing. Wrestling shoes and a water bottle are recommended, and if gear cost is a concern, we are often able to help.
Is wrestling worth it?
Wrestling helps kids build discipline, confidence, resilience, body control, and mental toughness. It teaches them how to work hard, handle challenges, and keep improving over time- on and off the mat.
Our coaches focus on proper technique, safe instruction, and healthy development. We do not encourage weight cutting, and we want kids to learn the sport in a way that is safe, positive, and age-appropriate. Whether your child wants to compete or just be active and try something new, wrestling gives them the chance to grow, have fun, and be part of a supportive team environment.

Coach peal
For us, wrestling has always been about more than the sport itself. Our mentor and founder, Jeff Peal, was a devoted Christian who loved Jesus and poured his faith into the way he coached and cared for others. He taught us that building character, discipline, and community were just as important as winning matches. Though Jeff passed away in 2021, the foundation he built and the values he lived by continue to guide us in every practice and in every young wrestler we serve.
Wrestling that builds strong athletes, strong character, and a place to belong.
Atlas Wrestling is for kids from any school, town, or background. We chose Muzz’s Gym because it sits in a central location for families across our area. Our club is built to serve children of all abilities, with a focus giving every child a chance to learn, grow, and belong.
Atlas is open to boys and girls ages 4 through high school, from first-timers to experienced wrestlers. Kids are grouped thoughtfully so they can learn safely, build confidence, and keep improving.
Wrestling at Atlas is about more than winning tournaments. It’s about discipline, resilience, work ethic, and being a part of a team that helps kids grow on and off the mat.
Staff

Head Coach
Kehly Roberts is the head coach of Atlas Wrestling, where he has led the program since 2017 after being entrusted with the role by his longtime mentor, Coach Peal. Kehly began wrestling freestyle in first grade, following in the footsteps of his older brothers who also wrestled under Coach Peal. A two-time state champion, Kehly finished his high school career with an impressive 134-12 record before continuing his wrestling journey at Appalachian State University. For 5 years he was also an NCHSAA Official for high school and middle school wrestling. Today, he brings his passion and experience to the next generation of wrestlers- including his own son and daughter, who both compete for Atlas.

Assistant Coach
Jamie was introduced to wrestling by his older brother and competed at North Stanly High School, graduating in 2006. After helping coach at North Stanly he moved to Wilkes County, and now enjoys seeing young athletes grow through the sport. Jamie believes wrestling builds character, teaching kids humility, respect, determination, and sportsmanship. His son, Gunner, also wrestles with the club. Jamie has been coaching Atlas wrestlers for four years.

Assistant Coach
Cody began wrestling in elementary school and went on to have an accomplished career at the high school and collegiate level. He was a North Carolina state champion, NHSCA All-American, and Super 32 podium finisher, ending high school with an impressive 146–16 record. After wrestling at Spartanburg Methodist College, Cody found his passion for coaching and mentoring young athletes. Now, as both a coach and a wrestling dad, he loves helping kids develop the skills, discipline, and confidence that wrestling teaches—on and off the mat. This is Cody's second year coaching Atlas wrestlers.

Assistant Coach
Kirstin has been part of the wrestling world since 2011. While she wasn’t a wrestler herself, she has spent years learning the sport, supporting athletes, and stepping in at practices when needed. Behind the scenes, she keeps Atlas Wrestling running strong; helping support our families, tournaments, and the nonprofit side of the organization. Married to Head Coach Kehly, she is also a proud wrestling mom with two kids on the team. Her biggest passion is growing opportunities for girls in wrestling and showing them that this sport is for everyone.
